A bike-riding woman and her one-year-old child died after being hit by a speeding roadways bus near Gahra on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway. The husband who was riding the bike suffered minor injuries. After the accident, the driver ran away with the bus. Raunak alias Divyansh, one year old son of factory worker Sonu Sahu, resident of Nayakheda village of Sadar Kotwali, was suffering from fever for several days.
At around 6 pm on Wednesday evening, he along with his wife Jyoti (22) was going to take the child on a bike to a private clinic near Shekhpur Nari village. As soon as Sonu stopped the bike at the cut to cross the road in Achalganj police station area on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway, a high-speed roadways bus coming from Kanpur hit the bike. Jyoti, who was sitting with the child in her lap, fell on the road along with the child and was crushed by the rear wheel of the bus. Jyoti and her child died, while Sonu suffered minor injuries. The deceased’s husband Sonu told that the marriage took place one and a half years ago. Police Station Head Rajeshwar Tripathi said that action will be taken after filing a report on the basis of the registration number of the roadways.
